A Message of Thanks from the President

What an incredible start to the year it has been for our Southport Gymnastics community!

Firstly, a huge thank you to everyone who contributed to our Easter raffle. Thanks to the generosity of our families and local businesses, we raised over $1,500. Efforts like this make a real difference to our club, and we are so grateful for the ongoing support from our community.

Behind the scenes, your committee has been working closely with Gold Coast City Council to secure funding for essential building maintenance, as required under our lease. While this work isn’t always visible, it is vital to ensuring our facilities remain safe, functional, and fit for the future. Thank you to our committee members for the time and effort being invested here.

It has also been fantastic to see the continued growth and integration of our MAG program into the gym. We are so proud of how this program has been embraced, and it’s wonderful to welcome so many new gymnasts and families who are now calling Southport home.

To all of our gymnasts who are kicking off their competition seasons - congratulations! Whether it’s your very first competition or your hundredth, we are incredibly proud of each and every one of you. Seeing your hard work, dedication, and resilience come to life on the competition floor is what it’s all about.

A special mention must go to our MAG athletes and coaching team following an extremely successful Gold Coast Regionals. Congratulations to Alex for his leadership as lead MAG Coach, a fantastic achievement and a reflection of the hard work being put in across the program.

Your committee has also been busy reviewing and updating our constitution and policies to ensure they remain current and support the ongoing growth of the club. We’ve recently released our updated Beat the Heat Extreme Weather Policy, with more updates to come in Term 2, so stay tuned.

Finally, none of this would be possible without the incredible people who make Southport what it is.

To our coaches, to Skye, and to our dedicated committee, thank you. Your passion, time, and commitment do not go unnoticed, and we are so appreciative of everything you do.

Thank you, as always, for being part of our Southport family. I look forward to seeing the Southport Spirit continue to shine in Term 2.

Have a safe and Happy Easter holidays.

— Lauren Brown, President, on behalf of the Committee
