Coaches corner: A message from Coach Maddy
This term has been an exciting one for our club, filled with growth, achievements, and plenty of hard work. Each Wednesday I’ve had the pleasure of working closely with our junior levels, supporting both our gymnasts and coaches as they continue to develop their skills and confidence. It’s been wonderful to see the progress in the gym each week and the dedication shown by everyone involved.
We’ve also had a very busy competition season, with many gymnasts representing the club and achieving some fantastic results. A special congratulations go to those selected for the Regional Team – a huge achievement that reflects all the effort put in at training. With Junior State Championships just around the corner, we are excited to see our athletes finish the season strong.
As competition season winds down, we’re looking ahead to Term 4 where the focus will shift to leveling up, building new skills, and enjoying some off-season training and fun. This is always a great time for gymnasts to push themselves, try new things, and strengthen the foundation for the year ahead. We’re very proud of all the hard work shown this term and can’t wait to see what’s to come!
🌟 Why Handstands Matter in Gymnastics 🌟
You never stop learning in coaching! Head Coach Maddy led a fantastic handstand workshop recently with our coaching team. From new to experienced coaches, everyone gained fresh ideas and drills to bring into the gym. We can’t wait to see these skills and progressions implemented in training!
The handstand is one of the most important skills your gymnast will ever learn!
✅ Builds strong shoulders, arms & core
✅ Improves balance and body control
✅ Teaches gymnasts how to feel confident upside down
✅ Forms the foundation for so many other skills – from walkovers to handsprings and giants!
✅ A strong handstand means stronger gymnastics across every apparatus.
